TATTOO AFTERCARE

Congrats on your new tattoo!

Below you’ll find everything you need to know to make sure your tattoo heals up nicely.

FIRST THINGS FIRST!

  1. After 2 -3 days. Remove your "second-skin" bandage with clean hands by running some lukewarm water over the plaster and peeling it down—this will make the process easier.

  2. After removing the bandage, gently wash the area with lukewarm, antibacterial, unscented soap; this will help remove any ink, blood, or plasma that has accumulated under the bandage.

  3. Pat dry with a clean paper towel.

  4. After the tattoo has dried, apply a thin layer of fragrance-free lotion or ointment. I recommend the following:

  • Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion

  • A&D ointment

  • Aveeno Baby Daily Moisture Lotion

  • Vitamin E ointment

These are my recommendations; however, you can use any fragrance-free lotion or ointment that doesn't irritate your skin.

Over the next 2-4 weeks, while your tattoo heals, you're going to want to pay close attention to the following steps:

  • Clean your tattoo once daily. Much like when you remove your bandage, use unscented soap and lukewarm water, then pat dry with a paper towel.

  • Moisturize with a thin layer of your choice of moisturizer. This will help with the scabbing and itching process.

    THINGS TO AVOID:

  • Do not scratch your tattoo.

  • If you have any pets, don't allow them to get any fur or saliva on your healing tattoo.

  • Don't re-bandage your tattoo.

  • Don't submerge your tattoo in water.

  • Avoid heavy sweating.

  • Don't expose your tattoo to prolonged direct sunlight.

  • No dirty clothes, sheets, or towels on your new tattoo.

  • Do not use alcohol, peroxide, or antibacterial spray to clean your tattoo.

    BONUS TIP:

After your tattoo is fully healed, be sure to take care of it by moisturizing and using sunscreen where needed. While this step isn't required, it helps keep your tattoo looking great in the future. :)
